Gift from IRA
Joyce Saxon was a manager for 25 years with a global advertising agency where she was responsible for placing $51-M a year in broadcast advertising. Spending a portion of the winter in the desert, she joined all of the Councils supporting the Palm Springs Art Museum. Joyce is a Sustaining Fellow of the Art Institute of Chicago, and a number of other prestigious institutions in the Midwest, in addition to her active involvement with the Palm Springs Art Museum.
She also realizes the benefit of using the required annual distribution from her IRA to reduce her gross income. Accordingly, Joyce contacted her IRA plan administrator at Northern Trust, and recently made a significant gift from her individual retirement account to one of those Councils. She asked that her distribution be made to the Art Museum's Western Art Council in honor of its chairperson, Jean C. Carrus.
